George is an admitted attorney of the High Court of South Africa. Following his admission as an attorney, George elected to use his legal background as a foundation from which to pursue a career in business. George founded Sindica Investments and undertook various successful commercial property syndications, which yielded compounded growth per annum returns to its investors in excess of 25% over a 5 year period.
In 2003, George co-founded Gatekeeper Asset Management with Martin Venter. Gatekeeper was the appointed development manager of the Val de Vie Wine and Polo Estate residential development outside Paarl, Western Cape. Gatekeeper managed the entire development process and the professional team from rezoning to pre-selling to full civil and structural implementation of the development. Val de Vie is now a prime residential estate that recently scooped two African Property Awards out of 140 entries, namely 5-star awards for Best Development, Multiple Units and Best Leisure Development.
At Gatekeeper, George was also involved in the structuring of various commercial and retail property development opportunities as well as in a land claim for the Mnisi Land Claimants in respect of the Manyeleti Game Reserve, which represented one of the first successfully concluded land restitution settlement agreements for protected areas in Mpumalanga.
George’s experience in managing Gatekeeper, coupled with his legal and commercial background, has resulted in him having a clear understanding of the essential requirements of the Companies Act, the Promotion of Access to Information Act and other pieces of important current legislation. As an alumni of the University of Stellenbosch Business School, George was elected to serve on their Gauteng Executive Committee.
The combination of property development, law, financial management and general management skills and experience which George have gained through both his studies and experience makes him a person capable of managing a multitude of different positions and opportunities to maximise the long-term return to shareholders and investors.
Theo is a non-practising advocate of the High Court of South Africa. He worked as legal adviser for Old Mutual, during which period he obtained membership to the Institute of Life and Pension Advisers by successfully completing the required I.L.P.A. examinations in 1991.
Theo elected to use his experience and legal background as a foundation from which to pursue a career in business and started his own independent brokerage, Finspes Financial Advisers, which he built to a very successful brokerage. During this period he gained a vast amount of experience and knowledge in direct marketing, financial planning and investments.
Theo later went on to pursue numerous investment opportunities and amongst others invested in two private companies namely Xerox East Rand and Ivyline Technologies where he acted as a director and shareholder of both companies.
Theo also pursued selected investment opportunities within the property market and later joined the property development company Gatekeeper Asset Management in 2007, where he was actively involved in a multitude of different property development projects.
Richard is an entrepreneur with broad exposure in both domestic and international arenas.
Richard’s career started when he developed several business concerns as a child from the age of 9.
His childhood ventures included the running of an informal clothing store over weekends and a fruit and vegetable distribution business during holidays.
In 1996, Richard started his formal career founding an IT business, which he rapidly grew and used as a base to start taking positions in other IT companies. The most notable of these was the position he took up in ITEX, which managed more than 30,000 card payment (‘POS’) terminals for one of the large South African banks.
Richard exited from the IT industry in 2005 and bought into a defence manufacturer, Milkor, in 2006. The company performed very well under Richard’s management. He exited his executive position in 2009 to pursue other opportunities and interests.
